Human Influence: Good or Bad?
Humans have affected the population of red wolves in a variety of ways during the past sixty years. Due to a myth that red wolves stole cattle, people received a wrong impression of these creatures. Many farmers and civilians began to hunt Canis Rufus at a large scale - leading to a dramatic decrease in the species' population. Land clearing, logging, drainage problems, road development, and mineral exploration were all human-controlled activities which had a significant effect on their population. (NY Wolf)
However, people themselves founded programs, established funds, and began captive breeding activities. Anti-hunting laws were created to protect these species from harm. Many conservation organizations stepped up, creating laws and movements all across Canada and the United States of America. Campaigns were made and funds founded to raise public awareness on Red Wolves. Humans have re-compensated for their previous mistakes, managing to save an incredible species from extinction.
