Species Interactions

The Red Wolf population makes up only about 1.5% of existing mammal populations in the animal community of North Carolina. Seeing that it is a species of the Canis (Wolf), its presence is dominating and is seen often hunting for its prey and defending territory in small packs. (NWF) However given the small population due to hybridization, hunting, and industrial intervention, the Red Wolf population would theoretically receive the negative results of North Carolina's woodland uniformed distribution pattern because of the much larger presence of equally dominant praetorian species: Coyote, Feral Pig, and Black Bear populations to be specific.
